Bachelors and Masters Programs

BAEU will offer a curriculum designed to preserve authentic Buddhist wisdom while integrating it into modern fields where it can make a real difference. In its first five years, BAEU will offer two Bachelor’s and two Master’s programs.

This track will focus on preserving and transmitting Buddhist knowledge through philosophy, languages, and practice.
Students will be trained as scholar-practitioners, combining intellectual rigor with lived experience, ensuring the teachings are embodied and authentically transmitted.
This track explores how Buddhist principles can be integrated into fields like psychology, education, environmental stewardship, and leadership.
Students will learn how to apply these teachings in ways that address contemporary challenges, promoting mental well-being and wise decision-making.

Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche

Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche is a globally respected meditation master and abbot of several monasteries in Nepal with over 700 monks and 200 nuns under his care, who has been providing education for decades. He is the founder of the Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI), which, in collaboration with the University of Kathmandu, has been offering BA and MA programs in Buddhist Studies and Himalayan Languages for over 25 years.

Dr. John D. Dunne

Dr. John D. Dunne (PhD. Harvard) is a leading figure at the intersection of Buddhist studies, cognitive science and philosophy. With a distinguished career that includes years of participation in dialogues with H.H. the Dalai Lama and scientists, Dr. Dunne is widely recognized for his experience in these fields. Together with Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche and a gathered a world-class team of academics, Dr. Dunne will lead the curriculum development process.
